ICT pedagogical project of the "Ecole Centrale de Pékin"

Ecole Centrale de Pékin

The "Ecole Centrale de Pékin", the first French-speaking " Grande Ecole " in China, opened in September 2006. In July 2005, ePrep encouraged the "Ecole Centrale de Pékin" to engage an ICT pedagogical pilot project. Two meetings, in which ePrep participated, have been organised at Beihang University (the University where the "Ecole Centrale de Pékin" is located), in Beijing. The inputs of ePrep and its community to the first developments of this project are described in a document available here (in French - pdf archive, 220 kB).

The Future

Gaston Berger

"Our civilisation can be compared to a car travelling faster and faster along an unknown road at night. Its headlights need to be more and more powerful if we are to avoid a catastrophe" Gaston Berger, forecaster.

In September 2003, ePrep encouraged the CPGE teachers' Unions to start thinking about the future, in particular to consider what, by 2008, the day of a CPGE teacher using ICT as fully as possible, would be like. The aim was to better identify the actions that could be developed in the coming years and to encourage and generalise the use of ICT in CPGE teaching.

Therefore, ePrep organised a seminar with representatives of CPGE teachers' Unions and realised a study entitled "the day of a teacher in CPGE in 2008". This study (in French) can be downloaded here (pdf 256 kB). An illustrated version can also be downloaded here (pdf 1050 kB).

The Session 6 of the 2004 ePrep International Workshop was dedicated to this issue.

Parallel Session Rapporteurs at ePrep 2002

During the 2002 ePrep International Workshop, a large consensus appeared on the need to launch a project to create a Federating Digital Workspace for CPGE and similar establishments (in French  "Espace Numérique Fédérateur pour les CPGE", or ENF-CPGE) including an important international dimension.

So that this project can be launched on a sound basis, it was decided to carry out a feasibility study. This study was entitled by the CPGE teachers' Unions to Nathalie Van de Wiele, Director of ePrep.

The study was realised over five months, with the support of a Steering Committee constituted by the rapporteurs of  the ePrep 2002 International Workshop sessions, and was handed out to the French Ministry for Education in January, 2003. This report (in French) can be downloaded here (pdf 365 kB).

The project is today in its development phase under the management of the French Ministry for Education. Its last developments have been presented at the 2004 ePrep International Workshop (Session 2).
