ICT development in CPGEs

A training session in CPGE
As
showed by the ICT Surveys (see below) realised in 2002, 2004 and 2006, the use of Information Technologies (IT) in Education
is already a reality in CPGE, both as regards teachers
and students and the establishments themselves.
Many teachers use a computer on a daily basis, either
at their home or during their teaching, to:
- search for information on the Web that is useful for their teaching
- exchange e-mail with colleagues
- prepare all or part of texts and tutorials, lab work, lectures, etc.
- use subject-specific software for educational purposes
Some teachers have even started to put some or all of their teaching on the Internet or thought up new multimedia modules that make full use of IT.
More and more establishments now have very well equipped computer rooms, labs with one workstation for every two students installed with specialist softwares, and multimedia rooms offering advanced computer and communication tools.
The ePrep International Workshop provides, every two years, an ideal opportunity to share such experiences and to work together on actions to be undertaken in the future (to get more information on this workshop or on the actions launched by ePrep, see on this Web site).
ICE Surveys
Three ICT surveys were coordinated by ePrep, in cooperation with the CPGE teachers' Unions, on the occasion of the ePrep International Workshops, held every two years. These surveys, concerning the use of ICT by the CPGE teachers, are available here, in French: 2002 ICT Survey (pdf file, 60 kB), 2004 ICT Survey (pdf file, 64 kB), 2006 ICT Survey (pdf archive, 460 kB).
Training programmes
High-quality
training and information programmes for teachers, students and
establishment staff are an important factor in the development of ICT in
CPGE. Several initiatives have been initiated by the CPGE teachers' Unions in cooperation with ePrep. These initiatives are
described (in French) on
this Web site.
